Want to learn the secret to making your face look thinner without giving up your favorite desserts and spending HOURS at the gym? You've come to the right place. We're sharing 5 beauty tricks to make your face look slimmer by combining our best tips around makeup, hairstyles, hightlights, and accessories, as well as the right way to accentuate your eyes with eyeshadow and eyeliner. These strategies have worked wonders for me, especially when it comes to making me look skinnier in pictures!

If you’re looking for quick and easy tips to make your face look thinner that don’t require hour-long sweat sessions at the gym and restricting yourself from sugary treats, you’ve come to the right place.

You see, I’m finding it REALLY hard to remove myself from our couch these days. I’m not sure if it’s the cold weather, the shorter days, or the fact that I’m generally just a lazy person, but I’d much rather spend my evenings staring at the TV with a tub of ice cream in one hand and a bottle of wine in the other than running on the treadmill.

The good news is that the internet is FULL of simple beauty tricks to make your face look thinner, and after trying all of them out, I feel at least 5 lbs lighter.

Who knew a little contour, beautiful brows, and the right hairstyle could make such a difference?!

Anyway, if you’re looking for face-slimming tips that work, check out my favorite tips below.

TIP 1 | LEARN HOW TO CONTOUR

A little bronzer and highlighter can go a LONG WAY in defining your cheekbones, jawline, and nose. It takes a little bit of practice, but with the right products and brushes, you can transform your face in a matter of minutes.

I recently splurged on Benefit Cosmetics Hoola, which I love because it looks much more natural than the drugstore products I used to use, but for me, it was more about having the right contouring brush and learning the correct techniques. I swear by my NARS Ita Kabuki Brush No. 21, and the tutorial below by Jaclyn Hill has been a complete life-changer for me. She’s the one who convinced me to invest in Hoola and my swanky NARS brush, and my cheeks have never looked more defined

TIP 2 | PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR BROWS

If you’ve been following my blog for a while now, you know that I am OBSESSED with my eyebrows. Why? Because thick, angular eyebrows make your face look longer and slimmer, and since I over-plucked my brows for the greater part of my 20s and early 30s, I spend a lot of time testing out different products and watching YouTube tutorials in an effort to make my eyebrows look thicker than they really are.

To date, my list of must-have brow products are:

ANASTASIA Beverly Hills Brow Wiz
ANASTASIA Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade
ANASTASIA Beverly Hills Duo Brush #12
ANASTASIA Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel

I also use Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow on days I’m in a rush or want more of a natural look, but still want my brows to have a little definition.

This tutorial by Jaclyn Hill has given me so many pointers in how to draw in my eyebrows perfectly, and her concealer technique has completely revolutionized my brow routine!

TIP 3 | DRAW ATTENTION TO YOUR EYES

A great tip for making a round face look slimmer is to spend a little extra time on your eye makeup. The more your eyes pop, the more attention they’ll get, leaving your admirers less time to notice the imperfections of your face. So grab that eyeliner and mascara, and practice your cat eye techniques because your hard work will pay off!

TIP 4 | PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR HAIR

I was blessed with hair that isn’t curly or straight, and that has a weird, frizzy kink to it, and have spent the last 20+ years applying serums and using various hot tools in an effort to make it as sleek, smooth, and straight as possible. The good news is that I could talk your ear off about the best products and techniques to get humid-resistant straight hair, but as it turns out, straight hair can actually make your face look WIDER if it’s not styled properly.

I’m totally serious!

Ideally, I try to add a bit of a curl to my locks to give it a little lift, but on the mornings I don’t have time to fuss about with my curling wand, I make sure to add a little Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse to my roots and blow dry my hair up and away from my face with a large, round brush. I then tease it at the hop and sides, and add a bit of hairspray so my hair doesn’t fall flat against my head as soon as I walk out the front door.

And finally, if you’re feeling extra daring…

TIP 5 | EMBRACE THE CAT EYE

I usually reserve the cat eye look for big nights out because I think it’s a bit too sexy for school drop-offs and pick-ups, but I recently discovered this makeup trend actually makes your face look slimmer by elongating and lifting your eyes.

And if you think about it, it totally makes sense.

By drawing attention to the corner of your eyes, you’re giving the illusion that your face is triangular in shape, which makes it look leaner.

If you struggle to create a natural cat eye look (I know I do!), this tutorial by Jaclyn Hill breaks it down into super simple steps, and she only uses 2 brushes and one eyeshadow palette!

Morphe 25A Palette
Morphe Brushes M433
Morphe Brushes M506

This look is a bit much for everyday (in my opinion), but you can always experiment with other colors for a more neutral look that still makes your eye pop!

I hope these beauty tricks to make your face look thinner help you as much as they’ve helped me!
